Training For You has an 80% minimum attendance target for on-campus programmes. Attendance is monitored daily.

- First class for 2024 is January 29th 2024
- Rolling intakes, you can enrol and start anytime throughout the year
What is the qualification?
NCEA Level 2, with a Vocational Pathway in Social and Community Services Sector.
A graduate of this programme will:
- Have gained knowledge of how to be assertive, interact with people, and be able to communicate within a team
- Identify support services and resources within the community. Have knowledge of infection control and caring for children’s basic needs including their health and wellbeing
- Have knowledge of age-related nutritional needs and health issues of children and the services available to protect and enhance the wellbeing of young children
- Have knowledge of the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights and the role of a support worker in a health and wellbeing setting
- Have basic computing skills and knowledge of legal requirements when using digital devices; be able to identify risks and implement basic security when using digital devices and software
- Have developed literacy and numeracy skills that will allow them to progress onto further study or employment in their chosen vocation
What can I do on completion of the programme?
Containing a wide range of transferable skills means graduates of this programme can seamlessly move onto further qualifications. Further study could include:
- New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing, Level 2
- New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education & Care, Level 3
- New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) (Health Pathway) (UCOL)
Entry criteria
You must:
- Be over 16 years of age and not be enrolled at a secondary school or other tertiary organisation
- Be identified as a domestic student (one of the following):
- a New Zealand Citizen, or a New Zealand permanent resident currently living in New Zealand
- a Cook Island, Niue or Tokelau citizen
- an Australian citizen who is currently living in New Zealand, or an Australian permanent resident who has a returning resident visa and is currently living in New Zealand
- a refugee with refugee status who is directed to study as part of residency requirements.
- Provide a birth certificate or passport as evidence of identity
- AND not have an existing qualification at Level 2 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF)
